Henry Clay was a Whig Senator from Kentucky who played a vital role in the Epoch of Incivility. ​ He was the architect behind the Missouri Compromise of 1850 that gave America an extra decade before the Civil War. The Missouri Compromise created by him, shattered American history and sparked new events changing American Law and Politics forever.

The Compromise's Significance

The Missouri Compromise of 1850 was a key which opened a gate that was holding back lots of tension on the topic of slavery. Even though, the compromise delayed the civil war by a decade, it brought about new ideas that led to the pivotal moments before the war. These ideas risen by the compromise led to lots of debate and resentment eventually spilling out through the civil war and the events following up to it.

The Missouri Compromise of 1850 brought about new ideas of sovereignty in the states of New Mexico and Utah which changed the topic of slavery forever. These new ideas brought about by the compromise was the spark which lead to the creation and start of many other events. For instance, Abraham Lincoln became the first republican president and the party we adore today came to existence.
