Immediate Benefits and Disadvantages
The Missouri Compromise of 1850 gave birth to many new ideas which would affect America greatly.

The Compromise overall benefited the North in many ways in relation to the South. However, the terms agreed upon angered many in both the North and South. Even though it delayed the civil war, it brought about more bloodshed from its new ideas.
Northern States

California got admitted as a slave free state to the Union giving the North more power in the Senate

Columbia stopped the slave trade that originated from them

Texas had to give up some lands for its debts reducing its size
The North had three bills that benefited them out of the five bills
Southern States

The South got a stronger fugitive law which allowed them to retain their slaves making slavery crueler

The new states of New Mexico and Utah got to decide if they wanted slavery promoting the idea of popular sovereignty. If they choose slavery the South would regain control in congress.
